Nicholas Alonso, DVM

Dr. Alonso is a South Florida native, born and raised in Broward County. He keeps close family ties and has a diverse cultural background including Cuban, Greek and Italian descent. Dr. Alonso earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Central Florida and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida.

Dr. Alonso joined Plantation Midtown Animal Hospital in 2024 and has enjoyed building bonds with clients and their pets. He has a strong passion for preventive medicine, with a focus on the importance of preventative medicine and client education. He is dedicated to helping pets maintain long-term health through proactive care. His professional interests also include dentistry—particularly dental radiography and comprehensive cleanings—as well as nutrition and gastroenterology, where he promotes healthy diets and optimal digestive health. In addition, he is deeply committed to surgery and anesthesia, ensuring every patient receives safe, gentle, and attentive care.

In his free time, Dr. Alonso enjoys staying active through pickleball, volleyball, and strength training. He loves exploring U.S. National Parks, practicing wildlife and scenic photography, and cooking cuisine from his heritage. A craft coffee enthusiast and dessert baker, he values family time and enjoys spending time with his Persian cat, Luna. He is active in his faith community, regularly attending Bible studies and participating in mission trips with the Christian Veterinary Mission where he donates his time helping pets in need.
